Where it all Started
Burger Boy is located at 6005 - 54th Avenue in Red Deer and was originally opened as Willy's Hamburgers back in 1990 under the management of Dave Danielson and his wife Selma. They relocated from Calgary to handle the new franchise, which promptly landed us with a steady and loyal clientele.
In 2000, the franchise agreement expired and the couple launched their independently-owned Burger Boy.
The tradition of offering up all kinds of hamburgers and all that goes with them continued. The range of burgers to chose from these days is clearly part of what sets Burger Boy apart from the 'Moz 'N Bacon Boy' and 'Mexi Boy' to the 'Buffalo' and 'Veggie Boy' burgers.
We serve Breakfast every morning and it is available until 11 a.m.
"My buddies used to call me Burger Boy all the time so it just seemed like a natural name for the restaurant." says Danielson with a laugh as he reflects on the history of the establishment. "It's always been about service and product."
Another well known feature of Burger Boy is the popular Milkshake of the Month, which comes in a multitude of unique flavors. Being focused on burgers and shakes keeps things simple and is another strength of the restaurant, says Danielson.
"I thought that's what it's going to be - a burger and shake emporium. That's our focus."
Lunchtime is particularly busy for the staff at Burger Boy, with the Riverside business area to the east and plenty of nearby Red Deer residents to the west.
